Superstars shine at shamrock competition

Seven members of the Superstars Baton Club competed in Bowmanville on the weekend of March 6 to 8 at the annual CNBTA Shamrock Twirl Competition.  

Approximately 80 athletes from Richmond Hill, Oshawa, Hamilton, Brampton, Stratford, Walkerton, Fergus, Arthur and surrounding area gathered to compete for the Shamrock and Clover Cups and Miss Shamrock Pageant.

Alyssa George, 12, of Fergus was first in Beginner Strut and 2Baton, second in Beginner Int Solo and third in the Intermediate Miss Shamrock Pageant.

Hayleigh Homer, 12, of Fergus was first in Beginner Basic March and Solo, second in Beg 2Baton, third in Novice Strut and third in Beginner Shamrock Pageant.

Paige Johnston, 7, of Arthur was third in Beginner solo.

Skylar Irwin, 12, of Arthur was first in Novice Solo and third in Novice Miss Shamrock Pageant.

Shayla Logel, 10, of Elora was third in Beginner Basic March.

Elsie Post, 9, of Arthur was first Int Solo, Strut and 2Baton and won the Juvenile Intermediate Miss Shamrock pageant.

Makenzie Worton, 13, of Fergus was first in Beginner Solo, second in Beg Strut, 7th in novice 2Baton and second in the Beginner Miss Shamrock Pageant.

The duet team of Homer and Irwin placed second for their novice duet performance and the duet team of Worton and George placed first in the beginner division.

The team “Conga” won first place out of three teams – members include: Homer, George, Irwin and Post.

The twirlers are trained by Krista DiStasi of Fergus.  

The girls will be training hard for the CNBTA Provincial Championships taking place the beginning for May in Oshawa.
