The town has officially launched a new Job and Housing portal through its website.
“An initiative by the Town of Minto, Live and Work in Minto was born out of a need unique to a region with a successful local economy,” stated a Feb. 5 press release from the town.
“The municipality, blessed with an unemployment rate below 4%, was faced with the problem that its growing businesses and industries were struggling to fill open positions with local talent,” the release continues.
The Live and Work in Minto website is designed to provide:
– a one-stop location for seekers to find listings for jobs located in the region;
– property listings;
– an interactive map displaying home and job listings;
– an equal playing field for large, small and private businesses, as well as realtors and those with private listings; and
– mobile-friendly options allowing job and housing searches on mobile phones, tablets or desktop computers.
The portal was created in consultation with local businesses and realtors.
“The reality of doing business in a rural economy is that to fill job openings there must also be homes for sale or rental properties available to accommodate these new members of the community and their families,” the release stated.
“This website makes what was previously a time-consuming search much easier. Using the website map and directions functions it becomes very easy to see where a job is and how close available accommodations are to that job.”
Local businesses, private property owners and realtors will be able to add their own job openings and properties to the website and map. No programming knowledge is required to add listings and have them expire at a specific date in the future. The portal can be found at www.liveandworkminto.com.
