Wellington North council appointed 2015 standing committee representatives at the Dec. 15 meeting.
Sherry Burke will serve as chair of the administration and finance committee, with members Dan Yake, Mark Goetz and Andy Lennox.
Chair of the economic development committee will be Goetz with council members Steve McCabe, Burke and Lennox.
Yake and McCabe will co-chair the public works committee with members Burke and Lennox.
McCabe is the new recreation and culture committee chair with members Yake, Goetz and Lennox.
Pat Salter will be the township representative on the Grand River Conservation Authority board, David Turton will be the representative for the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority and McCabe will serve as representative for the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority. All of these appointments are for a three-year term, beginning Jan. 1.
Karren Wallace was appointed secretary-treasurer for the committee of adjustment and the township clerk.
Michael Givens was appointed to the position of township deputy clerk. He also currently serves as CAO.
Former deputy clerk Cathy More will be retiring.
“With the pending retirement of the deputy clerk, council authorized the recruitment of a clerk in July,” Givens told the Advertiser in an email.
Of his dual role he said, “Appointment as CAO and deputy clerk … is precautionary as the deputy clerk can take on the role of and the statutory duties in the absence of the clerk. If there is an extended absence for any reason, the township would be covered without having to appoint anyone.”
Also during the meeting, councillor Yake was recognized for 20 years of service on municipal council.
