Canada Company program to provide LAV III monuments to Canadian communities

Canada Company announced it would be the manager for a national program which will provide monuments of LAV III (light armoured vehicles) used by the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan to qualifying communities throughout the country.

The program will be managed by Canada Company and communities wishing to receive a monument can apply at www.lavmonument.ca.

Canada Company founder Blake Goldring said, “Many of the monuments in Canada are more than 70 years old and are not relevant to this generation. The LAV III monument program gives communities throughout Canada an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices of the members of the Canadian Armed Forces in a very powerful and enduring way.”

A committee of mainly Afghanistan veterans chaired by retired Major General David Fraser will select the communities to receive monuments.

“As a veteran of Afghanistan, my fellow members of the Canadian Forces are moved by the recognition by communities throughout Canada of my generation’s contribution to preserving the security of Canadian society. The LAV III is a powerful and enduring symbol of our Afghanistan mission for all veterans.”

The application deadline for the first LAV III monument, to be delivered at no charge is Jan. 31 and must be filed online at www.lavmonument.ca. The communities and Canada Company sponsors will fund all other monuments. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis and the monuments will be available for the next three years.
