Anderson garnered 1,694 votes to Hardie’s 918 and MacKenzie’s 749.

Anderson was quick to commend MacKenzie in an interview after the results were in on Oct. 27.

“I’d like to thank Mark MacKenzie for the years he has put in on county council and all the years of service to the municipality as a councillor,” he said.

Anderson said he will strive for a close relationship with Town of Minto council.

“I want to bring the town closer to the county. I want to connect them better to the local council and extend a better working relationship to our mayor.

“Together we’re both county councillors so we’re there to represent the town and to bring as much exposure back to the  Town of Minto as we can, from the county’s perspective with moving the county forward.

“So that’s my game plan, to connect people better with the county,” he stated.

Hardie, director of parks and recreation for North Perth, who has been actively involved with the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association for the past 15 years, was pleased with his showing “for a first time running” municipally.

MacKenzie could not be reached for comment by deadline.
