Groves Memorial Community Hospital and North Wellington Health Care’s Louise Marshall Hospital and Palmerston and District Hospital sites are moving to active screening to determine the travel risk of any patients/visitors entering the hospital.
This change in access to the hospitals is a result of new directives received by the Ontario Ministry of Health to increase hospital efforts for Ebola preparedness.
All patients/visitors will enter through one set of doors located at the Hospital’s Emergency entrance. Staff screeners will ask questions to patients/visitors about their travel history and symptoms.
While the risk for any one hospital is very small, it is not possible to predict which hospital might need to provide initial care for a patient.
For this reason, every hospital needs to be prepared. Early identification is the key and strict adherence to screening is imperative.
Groves Memorial Community Hospital is a highly respected, rural, acute-care facility providing a wide range of services, officials state.
North Wellington Health Care is a regional provider of primary and secondary health services.
North Wellington Health Care delivers high quality health care services through two fully-accredited hospital sites in Mount Forest and Palmerston officials say.
