Wellington County equips North Wellington Health Care with Commitment of $2.2 million

Warden Chris White and county councillors in north Wellington County were recognized by the Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation for the county’s commitment of $2.2 million to support two critical foundation projects at North Wellington Health Care – Louise Marshall Hospital on Oct. 7.
Over the next five years, the county will make a gift of $1.2 million to the Always Here for You Campaign.
This donation will be directed to redevelop the emergency and ambulatory care departments at Louise Marshall Hospital.
“On behalf of Wellington County council, we are pleased to support the funding of hospitals in our community,” said White. “Redeveloping the emergency and ambulatory care departments at Louise Marshall Hospital will serve northern county residents well for many years to come.”
As well, the county will provide another $1 million to help cover the cost of purchasing and installing automated dispensing equipment and tracking technology for pharmaceutical drugs at the hospital which is expected to be done in two to three years.
The economic impact of hospitals stretches far beyond the people that walk through its doors because they’re unwell.
Companies locate where their employees will receive quality care. Louise Marshall employs 123 staff with an additional 60 general practitioners and medical specialists. Beyond access to care, the boost to Louise Marshall will support the jobs that further support the local economy in the housing, retail and service sectors, increasing the tax base and additional spending across the county.
The Always Here for You Campaign has a goal of $5 million to provide local funding for equipment and furnishings for ongoing needs and for the redevelopment of the emergency and ambulatory care departments.
