Stop and think about the health of your eyes

News Canada – Every week, Dr. Riaz Ahmed treats patients with eye injuries caused at home that could have easily been prevented.

“Eye injuries affect more than 2.5 million people in North America every year, yet 90 percent of these injuries could be prevented,” says Ahmed.

Among the biggest threats are cleaning and yard work supplies that can cause chemical burns, toys with sharp edges, elastic bands, cleaners, pencil crayons and too much time spent staring at mobile devices and computer screens.

Doctors of optometry agree that the most important way to take care of your family’s eyes, in addition to wearing protective eye wear and avoiding hazards, is by having regular eye exams. For information visit doctorsofoptometry.ca.
