Born in Fergus in 1963, Ted Arnott was raised in Arthur, where his family was in the heavy construction business. Ted worked part-time and summers while attending school: he was a retail store clerk, a construction labourer and a factory worker.
After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a diploma in business administration, Ted worked as executive assistant to Jack Johnson, MPP.
Ted was the youngest Member of the Ontario PC Caucus when he was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1990, at the age of 27. He has been re-elected ever since, and Ted is now one of the longest serving MPPs in the Assembly.
In 2004, Wilfrid Laurier University named him as one of their alumni who is “making a difference around the world.”
During his almost 24 years in the Ontario Legislature, Ted has always put his constituents first. He stands up for our interest and values. He has repeatedly reached across party lines to get things done, and makes no promises except his best efforts. It is a promise he has always kept.
Ted strongly supports our local health care services, fighting for Groves and Georgetown hospitals, and the East Wellington Family Health Team.
Ted pushes for the infrastructure projects we need. He looks out for farm families and small businesses. He knows we must encourage job creation, get provincial government spending under control, pay down the provincial debt, stabilize hydro rates, reduce taxes, strengthen our schools and protect our environment.
Ted lives in Fergus, with his wife Lisa, who teaches core French at James McQueen Public School. They have three teenage sons, and they attend St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fergus.
