Scott Marshall to run for Libertarians

Local entrepreneur Scott Marshall has been nominated as the Ontario Libertarian Party’s (OLP) candidate for Perth-Wellington in the June 12 provincial election.

“I welcome this endorsement to share our message of personal and economic freedom to the residents in Perth-Wellington,” said Marshall.

“It’s time for someone to stand up and fight for the long-overdue changes in the way government functions. Jobs, health care, education and energy are far too important to be left solely in the hands of government.

“We’ve been standing on the sidelines watching like deer in the headlights as our land of opportunity has been overrun by opportunists.”

He added he is excited to be a part of the OLP and party leader Allen Small’s team.

A resident of Minto for the past 15 years, Marshall is a self-employed business consultant.

“The Ontario Liberals have made a mess of just about everything in their 11 years of governing this province and unfortunately other than a few cosmetic promises, the PCs and NDP aren’t offering the type of change that will make a significant difference today or in the foreseeable future,” states Marshall in a May 7 press release.

Previously announcing candidacy in Perth-Wellington were Liberal Stewart Skinner and the NDP’s Romayne Smith Fullerton.

Progressive Conservative MP Randy Pettapiece is the incumbent in the riding.
