Alma WI members learn the art of finger knitting

Past president Helen Moffatt and new president Shirley Fletcher cut a cake to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Alma Women’s Institute.

District President Sharon Currie installed the new officers for the coming year.

Pat Salter conducted a review of the group’s thoughts about restructuring the organization at the provincial level.

A report was given by Lenora Arbuckle on a recent WI Rally held at Stoney Creek called “WI Rocks.” About 500 members attended from all over Ontario. A highlight of the day was a Skype conversation with two members from the United Kingdom.

A contest on famous pairs was won by Sharon Currie.

Cindy Rabstein demonstrated finger knitting. Each member tried their hand at knitting a scarf.

Five members of the local club planned to attend the Associated Country Women of the World breakfast to be held in Eden Mills on April 26.

Members were invited to the official dedication of the Community Labyrinth and Memory Garden on May 3 at the Alma Community Hall.

Everyone enjoyed Anniversary cake and ice cream.

The next meeting will be held May 15 at 1:30pm at the Alma Hall. Everyone is welcome.
