Community Torchlight announces its volunteer spring training

Community Torchlight – Distress Centre Wellington Dufferin, a volunteer-driven, community service agency, has announced its volunteer spring training and invites applications from those interested in learning the skill of active listening and engaging in solution-directed conversation.

Distress Centre headquarters is in Guelph, where volunteers provide support to people experiencing a range of real life issues, and in Orangeville where the TeleCheck program offers daily check-in calls to people 55-plus living independently in their community.

Volunteers manage just under 50,000 inbound and outbound calls each year, and Community Torchlight continues to create new opportunities to enhance services and increase the number of people it supports on a 24/7 basis.
