A press release issued by Erin councillors on Jan. 21 stated, “Mother Nature hit us hard over the Christmas holidays, wreaking havoc with roads and power.”
The release added everyone in the community has been affected by the event to some degree, some more than others.
“Council would like to take this opportunity to extend their sincere gratitude to town employees who worked very hard to make our roads safe over the holidays,” the release stated.
“Warming stations provided a temporary place of reprieve for those without power and water. We understand that many employees worked overtime and made personal sacrifices in order to ensure that we maintained a safe environment for our community.
“It is times like these when we are reminded how important coming together as a community is, and to those people who have gone above and beyond their call of duty to ensure the safety and comfort of others, you are truly appreciated.”
