The Wellington County Historical Society would like to hear from all parade lovers – in writing.
“I Love a Parade” is the theme of the society’s annual writing contest for 2014.
“Parades have always been entertaining for kids and adults alike. Perhaps you saw, or were in one which holds a special memory in your heart. Tell us about it, or why you like parades,” the society urges.
The competition is open to all ages and essays should be 500 to 2,000 words in length. Typed, double-spaced essays are preferred, but handwritten entries are acceptable. Deadline is April 15.
Entrants are advised to include their name, full address, email address, and telephone number on a separate sheet.
Winners will be announced at the society’s annual general meeting on June 2, where awards will be presented in youth and adult categories.
Entries may be mailed to: 2014 Writing Contest, Wellington County Historical Society, P.O. Box 5, Fergus, ON, N1M 2W7 or email to: willawick@wightman.ca.
