Ontario screenwriter launches film project

Canadian writer, poet and editor Linda Black has launched a film project for a story set in Ontario in the town of Fergus and neighboring Elora.

Based on extraordinary true events, All Their Lives is a 1950s saga about a young Navy cadet and a beautiful Bell Telephone operator with a secret.

Destined for each other, their epic love is threatened by tragedy, and as the young man fights for his beloved’s future, another man, born the same day and bound to them both, steps in.

Black was born in Kitchener and grew up in both Elora and Fergus. She attended Centre Wellington District High School and also Centennial Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Guelph before going on to study journalism at the University of Western Ontario and then Fanshawe College in London, graduating from the broadcast journalism program in 1984.

She has lived and worked in Toronto, the U.S. Virgin Islands, New York City, and Martha’s Vineyard.

“But my Ontario roots are so strong,” Black says. “Most of my family are here in southwestern Ontario.”

Linda has launched a crowd funding project to raise funds for the making of the film, which would be shot on location in Elora and Fergus.

“It’s really a riveting, unforgettable story. And it takes place in the 50s and 60s, so there’s all the glamour and music of the era too,” Black notes.
