Unlike council in neighbouring Puslinch Township, Guelph-Eramosa council has little issue with waiving rental fees for events it deems are held for a good cause.
On Dec. 16 Guelph-Eramosa councillors voted unanimously to waive the rental fee at Rockmosa Community Centre for a YukYuks comedy fundraiser on Feb. 15.
“The man the fundraiser is for has been diagnosed with cancer,” Shelly Patterson wrote in her request to the township.
“He is a well respected … lifelong resident of Rockwood.”
She noted “100 per cent” of the proceeds from the fundraiser “will go to this young man and his family.”
Council passed the request with little discussion.
