Puslinch Township now has a policy in place regarding advertising at township facilities.
On Dec. 18, councillors received and endorsed the report from clerk Donna Tremblay which recommended that staff work with the current rink board advertisers in order to facilitate the issuing of a permit under the new policy.
The reason behind the report was to provide information to council with policy development as the first step in realizing benefits of a comprehensive and strategic approach to advertising activities and provide a foundation and guidelines for staff when considering requests for/or soliciting revenue for advertising opportunities within Puslinch on township property.
Policies would affect advertising on rink boards, ball diamonds, outdoor marquees, and display boards.
With the exception of Hydro One, no formal agreements are in place with any of the current rink board advertisers.
The proposal is to allow advertising as follows:
Rink boards – $350 plus HST per year, and
Ball diamonds – $175 plus HST per season.
The report notes that the advertisers on the electronic sign at the front of the Puslinch Community Centre including the Optimist Club and Wellington County were provided advertisement space in recognition of their donations towards the purchase of the electronic sign.
Applicants hosting an event at a township facility would be given first priority, followed by those by those promoting a community activity.
Council endorsed the report with little discussion.
