Kids can enjoy a winter adventure on Jan. 2 and 3

Winter Adventure Days are taking place at Guelph Lake on Jan. 2 and 3.  Kids can come for one or both days.

Winter Adventure day camps are fun and educational. They teach kids to commune with the natural environment by providing hands-on, environmental-based programs geared for six to 12-year-olds.

“My kids are really looking forward to going to this camp,” says Jessica Robbins who has signed her kids, age six and seven, to attend the camp both days.

“It is great to get them outside, burn off some energy and see the wonders of nature in the winter. I know there are lots of different family activities this time of year, but not so many for working parents. The nature centre staff are wonderful with the kids, too.”

She added that she thinks her kids will be talking more about this camp than their Christmas presents, because they still talk about their summer camp experience at the nature centre.

These programs feature nature-themed activities and adventures such as hikes, games and crafts.

Participants go outside daily to explore the fields and forests that surround our nature centres.

The goal is to introduce children to a lifetime of appreciation for the natural world that sustains us all.

Winter Adventure Days may include snow shoeing, tobogganing, snow sculpture building and animal tracking (depending on weather conditions).

The cost is $37.50 per full day, with the possibility of extending the program to 8am to 5pm.
