Enjoy the festive season with an afternoon of Christmas cheer at the Wellington County Museum and Archives on Dec. 8 from noon to 4pm at the annual Christmas Festival.
Entertainment, baking, seasonal displays, family crafts and activities will be ongoing all afternoon.
Organizers also expect a special visit from Santa Claus before the day is over, and reindeer will be on site all afternoon with a sleigh for the perfect Christmas photo opportunity.
For the fourth year, visitors are invited to bring in an ornament from home to help decorate an enormous live tree and become part of the Museum’s Christmas decoration collection.
Staff and volunteers are excited to see what people bring to decorate thebeautiful real tree as they ask residents to help the collection grow year by year.
Entertainment in the Exhibit Hall will feature the popular Centre Wellington Singers, from 1-2pm followed by the Grand River Brass from 2-3pm. Santa will make his appearance at3pm.
Tour the seasonal gallery, “Winter Greens”, highlighting simply lovely green dresses, hats, textiles and art from the collection. An engaging toy exhibit is also on display, on the first floor.
Gingerbread cookies will be baking all afternoon in the sunroom, and visitors are invited to help make and decorate a batch and of course have a taste.
Traditional Christmas crafts to make and take home will be available in the Nicholas Keith Room.
Christmas Festival admission is $5 per person, $12.50 per family; The Wellington County Museum & Archives is located on Wellington Road 18, between Fergus and Elora.
