The Wellington County Museum and Archives held a Remembrance Ceremony on Nov. 5 to commemorate the 317 fallen soldiers from Wellington County who gave their lives during the First World War.
Nov. 5 also marked the first day of Remembrance Week.
“We thought it was time for everyone to be remembered in one place,” said Beth Dyer, program assistant at the museum.
During the ceremony, Legion members from all over the county read the names of the 317 fallen soldiers, followed by a moment of silence and a reception.
Commander Gord Brown, a local navy veteran, put together a display of photos from WWI and the graves of the fallen soldiers. Also on display was the WWI trench exhibit.
“Thank you to the county for bringing us all together for this remarkable tribute,” said Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj.
