Though councillors here have proven reluctant to endorse a proposed recycling centre in the old Erin Hydro building, on Sept. 3, councillors indicated a willingness to endorse the concept of a centre somewhere in Erin.
Mayor Lou Maieron said he was asked by the group proposing a recycling centre for Erin to try for another approach.
At the last meeting, Maieron had put forward a two-part resolution which was not seconded.
On Sept. 3, Maieron suggested that instead of endorsing the entire resolution, that council simply support in principle the idea of having a reuse store in Erin.
He then added “in the fullness of time, council could decide what it might do in offering support as it moves forward.”
Maieron said the committee sought council’s support prior to meeting with representatives of Wellington County’s solid waste services.
With little further discussion, council supported the proposal – in principle.
