Construction to keep township busy

Numerous construction projects in Centre Wellington are keeping local residents on their toes.

“Life is certainly not dull around town,” Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj said at the June 17 committee of the whole meeting.

She pointed to the continuing work on the Tower Street bridge.

“That is going along beautifully and work is on target.”

She noted work at the Elora sewage treatment plant is also moving along well.

She noted a request for proposal has just been sent out for the expansion of the seniors centre.

Ross-Zuj said membership at the centre is now exceeding 700 people, “this work is long overdue.”

She said Millburn Street in Fergus will see activity as well as work begins on the parkette splashpad.

“Apparently they are not closing the road, but there will be lane reductions,” she said.
