Reptile show a go at rodeo

The Mapleton Rodeo has announced J ‘N’ L Reptile Rescue, sponsored by Exo-Terra, will be part of the rodeo weekend’s schedule of events.

“J ‘N’ L Reptile Rescue, which has over 50 years of collective experience with animals such as reptiles and amphibians, will be on site performing educational shows at the rodeo from July 5-7 in Moorefield..

Founder Jonathan Jennings says, “J ‘N’ L has been passionate about these types of animals ever since  I, as the founder, and co-founder Lisa Jennings, were children searching the local woods for reptiles and amphibians. Some of the first animals cared for were garter snakes, ribbon snakes, frogs, and salamanders.”

Marketing co-chair Ron Funnell states, “J ‘N’ L will provide an educational show, on both Saturday and Sunday beginning at noon, which is suited for young and young at heart guests. Having seen their show at Chicopee Ski Resort, I knew this would be an ideal addition to the Mapleton Rodeo.”

The company will bring a varied collection of animals and talk about the habitat, location, feeding, mating, color, and defense mechanisms of all the animals. They will offer hands-on experience for most of the animals. The J “N” L Reptile Rescue Show is part of the regular admission ticket.

Tickets for the rodeo can be purchased on-line at www.mapletonrodeo.ca. For information on the Mapleton Rodeo, contact Funnell at 519-638-2029 or 519-501-1225.
