The Erin Rotary and trails groups recently received an award of merit from Credit Valley Conservation for work done on local trails.
The award recognized the leadership in building environmental awareness..
The Erin Rotary and Trails groups worked in partnership to connect the Erin Water Tower Trail to the Delarmbro subdivision in Erin.
Both groups worked together to build a 25-step stairway up a steep slope of the Water Tower Trail, and build a 20-foot wooden bridge to protect a small stream along the trail.
Last summer in partnership with CVC, the groups planted 210 trees and shrubs. When a severe drought hit this summer, they worked together to water the trees to improve their chance for survival.
For more than 20 years, CVC has presented awards to individuals, landowners, community groups, small businesses, corporations, municipalities and agencies that have made a significant contribution to managing natural resources in the Credit River Watershed.
Through these awards, CVC’s Board of Directors celebrate important work done across the watershed to help ensure its long-term environmental health. A total of 19 awards were presented in the following categories: Award of Distinction; Certificate of Merit; and Young Conservationist.
