Wellington County staff are working to help those most in need at this time of year.
Wellington County employment services manager Michael Simon explained the funds were raised at the county’s annual Christmas bazaar, which is a staff engagement session where there is a lunch, silent auction, games and staff are encouraged to take part.
He added that all the items in the silent auction are either donated by staff or Wellington County.
“Through the generous donations and the fun that day, we were able to donate the $870 to this organization.”
Ron MacKinnon, executive director of the resource centre said “On behalf of the families and individuals that we serve, thank you very much. We’ll make sure the dollars go out in the community to help someone over the hump so they can be more self-supportive.”
He noted that this year marks the 26th year the Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington has served the area as a community benefit agency. The money donated will be used for the benefit of local families as outreach and support services program staff work with families and individuals most in need.
