General Store is a multi award-winning bluegrass band hailing from southern Ontario.
General Store will be performing its third benefit concert for the Special Friends Club of Hillsburgh on Oct. 1 at 7:30pm at Centre 2000 in Erin.
Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at The Village Music store in Erin (519-833-9583), at Butcher Furniture store in Hillsburgh (519-855-4207) or by calling C. Yule at 519-855-6356.
General Store’s two bluegrass CDs, Open for Business and More in Store have garnered multiple award nominations, and airplay all around the world.
Over the last six years, the band has been nominated for top vocal band, top instrumental band, top male vocalist, top female vocalist, top guitar player and entertainer of the year at the Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards.
And, last but not least, as with all bluegrass bands, Gospel music plays an important part in the General Store repertoire.
The band was chosen “bluegrass gospel band of the year” five years in a row and now it has been retired from that category.
Bob Bale, of Affinity Concerts in Sudbury, wrote of the band, “General Store can win an audience over within two songs. Humour, harmony and down home wholesomeness are trademarks of this band.”
