Fantasy web series begins filming in Guelph

Synn Studios, Inc. and Lynnvander Productions have announced the beginning of principal photography on Mind’s Eye: The Series.

Mind’s Eye is a 24 episode series being developed exclusively for the web. The concept comes from a pilot and short film of the same name that was filmed last summer and features many of the same cast and crew, including co-creators Thomas Gofton and Tom Brown.

The story of Mind’s Eye is a fantasy about a 12-year-old boy sought by the forces of good and evil to tip the balance of power in their favour. The boy, Illia (Nik MacMillan), isn’t aware of his power, nor is he aware that his neighbourhood friends are, in reality, a group of powerful warriors who can take the forms of wizards, ninjas and even medieval knights. Together, Illia and his friends try to defeat the evil Dolgrath (Johnny Quinn) and save the world.

Featuring extensive visual effects, fight choreography, and wire work, Mind’s Eye: The Series is Synn Studios’ most ambitious project.

“This project is going to be insane,” says producer and director Gofton.

“This is easily some of this best writing I’ve ever done for film,” said Brown, who not only wrote the series, but portrays one of its heroes.

“This is epic fantasy, and I think when people see it, they’re going to be impressed with what creative filmmakers can do on an indie budget.”

Mind’s Eye: The Series is scheduled to shoot for 26 days at various locations in an around Guelph. In order to promote the series, members of the cast and crew will be making appearances at the National Fan Expo and the Polaris 24 science fiction convention in Toronto later this summer. (Synn Studios is also a proud sponsor of Polaris 24.)

After principal photography, the series will go into post-production before debuting sometime early next year.
