HARRISTON – A community clothing swap will be held by the Town of Minto’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee on Oct. 18 from 10:30am to 2pm at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre (111 George St. S.).
This free, family-friendly event is a chance for residents to clean out their closets, refresh their wardrobes and reduce waste – all at no cost and with no pressure.
Participants are encouraged to bring clean, gently used cold-weather clothing such as jackets, snow gear, boots and everyday wear.
However, there’s no requirement to donate in order to participate – everyone is welcome to take what they need.
“Events like this are about more than clothing – they’re about community,” said DEI committee member Alicia Becker.
“We want to support one another, reduce waste, and ensure everyone has what they need to head into the season warm and confident.”
All leftover items from the swap will be donated to Blessings Thrift Store.
Clothing can be dropped off in advance from Oct. 14 to 17 between 9am and 4 pm at Service Ontario (36 Elora St. S, Harriston) and between 11am and 5pm at The Grove Palmerston (390 Main St. E.).
Donations can also be brought to the Harriston-Minto Community Centre from 4 to 6pm on Oct. 17 and from 8 to 10 am on Oct. 18.
The DEI Committee encourages all residents to join in this sustainable, community-driven initiative to give clothing a second life and support neighbors in need.
