Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament raises $65,000 for Louise Marshall Hospital

MOUNT FOREST – July 16 marked the return of the Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament at Pike Lake Golf Club.

Now in its 21st year, the tournament raises funds in support of Louise Marshall Hospital (LMH) Foundation, and Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH) in Palmerston.

This year, the tournament raised $65,000, with proceeds directed in benefit of Louise Marshall Hospital.

Organized by the Forrest family with the support of a tournament planning committee, the tournament is held annually in memory of Mary Lynne Forrest.

Each year proceeds from the tournament alternate between LMH and PDH. This year, the proceeds will be directed towards the purchase of surgical tools, including both a lap chole tray, which is a specialized set of instruments used in laparoscopic surgery, and a vacuum dressing pump, which is used to promote wound healing.

Over the years, proceeds from the tournament have funded many capital projects and essential pieces of equipment, beginning with the oncology unit at LMH in its inaugural year, and including echocardiogram machines, defibrillators, colonoscopes, a portable ventilator, hematology analyzers, and support for the PDH Foundation’s recent MRI+ capital campaign.

“We are so grateful to the Forrest family and the tournament planning committee who have so wonderfully honoured Mary Lynne’s legacy through this tournament, for all they’ve been able to accomplish in support of our local hospitals,” stated LMH foundation executive director Amy Van Huss in a press release.

To date, the Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament has raised more than $1 million in support of both the LMH and PDH foundations.

It is held each year on the third Wednesday in July.
