MAPLETON – Large crowds of runners and event goers attended the annual Mapleton Sunflower Festival and Run on Aug. 16.
Groups of participants including families, friends, beginners and seasoned runners registered to walk, jog or competitively run the races that included a two kilometre, five kilometre and 10 kilimotre trail. Medals were presented to 24 runners.
Event goers were also welcome to walk the sunflower field and capture photos amongst the yellow golden landscape.
A vendor area hosted a number of local creators and the live music stage hosted a series of musicians including Cara Smith and Bernie Hale.
More festivities included a corn hole tournament, wagon rides and corn maze.
Donations from the event continue to support the Palmerston and District Hospital with funds raised being put towards an ice machine and water dispenser for the hospital.
