WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington marked a major milestone on June 17, hosting its 30th Fore Our Kids Golf Tournament at Victoria Park East Golf Club. The tournament raised more than $35,000 to support the Children’s Foundation’s programs that help local children and youth thrive. The day was made even more impactful with the announcement of a $30,000 donation from Desjardins Insurance in support of the Foundation’s Free to Grow program.
The Free to Grow program helps remove financial barriers for local children and youth to participate in recreation and life skills programs, such as swimming, soccer, camps, babysitting courses, and lifeguard certification. These opportunities help kids build confidence, feel a sense of belonging, and gain important life skills.
“We are so thankful to all the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make this anniversary event such a success,” says Karyn Kirkwood, executive director of the Children’s Foundation in a press release. “The additional donation from Desjardins Insurance will go even further in helping us give more kids the chance to learn, grow, and just be kids. These experiences truly have a life-changing impact.”
The 2025 Fore Our Kids Golf Tournament was proudly presented by Joe Migliaccio, local Desjardins Insurance Agent, a long-time supporter and former Board Chair of the Children’s Foundation.
“It was an honour to serve as presenting sponsor of the Fore Our Kids Golf Tournament,” says Migliaccio in a press release. “The Children’s Foundation continues to do incredible work through Free to Grow, and all its programs, that opens doors for kids who deserve every opportunity to thrive.”
Speaking on behalf of Desjardins Insurance, Tina Hums, regional manager, stated, “At Desjardins Insurance, we believe in supporting the well-being of children and families in the communities where we live and work. We are proud to invest in the Free to Grow program and help ensure that every child has a chance to develop their full potential through meaningful, confidence-building experiences.”
Golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the course, fun contests, an online silent auction, 50/50 raffle and an evening celebration. The Children’s Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants who helped make this a memorable and meaningful event for local kids.
