More with more

One of the greater challenges facing the Newspaper industry today is keeping up with the rapidly changing methods of News delivery. A key ingredient, on top of providing a top-caliber print product is leveraging resources on-line.

As one of the first papers in this area on the Internet, we saw the need for that investment. Over the past year our site has been updated to reflect changing needs for readers in this area, neighbouring jurisdictions, and around the globe. We sense a great feeling of reward when travellers return to say they accessed our site while on holidays. It’s all good.

As we move into the next stages of our site development, the time is right to offer advertisers, readers, and writers another reason to join us on-line. In addition to the most complete print and on-line classifieds in the area, we are giving advertisers the chance to post a photo with their ads too. This is quite exciting since sometimes a photo is needed to clinch a sale – not to mention the added benefit for both seller and buyer to save time. Sellers can target serious buyers and buyers can save calling on an item that isn’t exactly what they are looking for. It’s a win-win for our customers.

The same service will soon be available for vehicles and real estate, and top dealers that sell vehicles with our publication can upload their best deals all the time – again, a win-win proposition for our readers and advertisers.

We have many other features that are in the works. As the project moves forward we are quite sure the extras we offer readers on-line will make that as much a part of their week as is reading Wellington County’s weekly Newspaper.

Every effort is made weekly to provide the News and information of import to our readers. The task remains heavy and often the choosing of News is a difficult chore because we desperately want to accommodate everyone. The size of our county is such that subjects like Sports are difficult to publish regularly since we cover so many towns and townships. Numerous requests for the service lead us to believe the needs of residents are not being met elsewhere so we are announcing a new service on our website. Coaches, parents and kids are encouraged to submit photos and News for the Sports section of our website. If you have community News, or a human interest story you would like to submit, there’s also a link where you can do that. It should be a lot of fun.

The Wellington Advertiser remains committed to providing the best service it can to the residents of this county. Please drop by and see us at www.wellingtonadvertiser.com.
