Public health reports 76 new COVID-19 cases in region

WELLINGTON COUNTY – For the second weekend in a row, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) is reporting over 70 new cases of COVID-19 in the region.

On Nov. 30, the WDGPH website indicated there were 76 new cases, marking a new high for cases reported from Friday to Sunday.

The previous weekend the region reported 75 new cases.

The Nov. 30 update includes:

  • 26 new cases in Wellington County, 52 active cases and three people in hospital;
  • 17 new cases in Dufferin County, 30 active cases and two in hospital; and
  • 27 new cases in Guelph, 59 active cases and one in hospital.

Cases have been increasing in Wellington County for several weeks, notably in the northern portion of the county.

Starting Dec. 1, WDGPH will include case information for each municipality in both Wellington and Dufferin counties.

As of Nov. 30 there are 14 schools in the WDGPH region with active cases, including seven schools in Wellington County.

There are also five facility outbreaks in the region, including three in Wellington.
