A number of energetic women from the community have come together and created the inaugural “Fun & Funky Clothing Bazaar and Extravaganza” to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
All the proceeds from the event are going towards the digital mammography machine at Groves, which costs $625,000.
“It’s not just women, it affects all of us,” said Janette Feniak, one of the many event organizers.
The event will be held on March 1 at the General Store in downtown Fergus.
“This is our first year so we’re definitely going to have some hurdles,” said Feniak.
The “Bling Bling and Clothing Sale” runs from 12 to 5pm, and the “Bro Show” and Zumba, with wine, beer, cheese and music, will be from 6 to 9pm.
“We want to make it an annual event for Groves, so we’re trying to make it really fun so people will spread the word and want to come next year,” said Feniak. “People have been really great at stepping up.”
Many men have volunteered to participate in the Bro Show, which will feature male volunteers parading on the stage to model bras created by businesses and organizations such as doctor and dental offices.
Admission for students is $2, adults are $5, and a day pass for all events is $10.
