The Canadian Bible Society (CBS) has been providing Scriptures for the Canadian military for more than 50 years. But until 2008, CBS had only been giving out copies of the New Testament.
Upon the request of the Canadian Military, CBS started printing and distributing the full Bible. Through this ongoing program, over 30,000 Bibles were sent to brave Canadians in uniform.
Each year, CBS provides more than 10,000 Bibles to troops. Special camouflage editions fit into the breast pockets of their uniforms – allowing soldiers to literally hold God’s word close to their hearts.
The Centre Wellington Branch of the Canadian Bible Society is hosting its annual fundraising dinner program on April 5 at Alma Bible Church.
This year the Branch aims to raise funds for the ongoing production and distribution of the military edition of the Bible for the men and women of Canada’s Armed Forces.
Our guest speaker is Col. Gerry Potter, recently retired from the RCAF and currently president of the Military Christian Fellowship of Canada.
Potter served in the RCAF for 35 years and has been stationed in many places around Canada and the U.S. as well as serving in places around the globe like Germany and Afghanistan.
At the Alma event doors will open at 6pm with dinner served at 6:30pm and the evening program starting at 8pm, and concluding at 9:15pm.
