WELLINGTON NORTH – The Woodland Springs Women’s Institute celebrated their 30th anniversary in October and despite the pandemic halting many of the group’s activities, the institute continues to have a strong commitment to community betterment with an active membership who are proud of their accomplishments.
Over the past year and a half the Woodland Springs Women’s Institute have continued meeting monthly over Zoom or outdoors in the warmer weather.
Through fundraising efforts like a yard and bake sale, catering, and the sale of dandelion jelly, the women continue to support community outreach projects, including: the Maplefest Syrup Festival, Link Crew at Wellington Heights Secondary School, Grade 6 Outdoor Education at Egremont Community School, Mount Forest Christmas Bureau, Womens’ Centre Owen Sound, Big Brothers Big Sisters Wellington North, Mount Forest Community Pantry, Just for Women Just for Fun, Public Skating Sports Complex, Louise Marshall Hospital Auxiliary, Erland Lee Museum Home, Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Home, and Associated Country Women of the World.
The group’s determined efforts, president Brenda Harris said, show their “sincere commitment to the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario’s overall objective” of assisting, encouraging and helping women to “become more knowledgeable and more responsible citizens.”
