Woman charged after seniors’ fight involving shovels, snow

GUELPH – One woman has been charged with assault after a altercation between two senior women that apparently started over a disagreement about snow removal.

On Jan. 29 two female residents of a Waterloo Avenue apartment were shovelling snow from around their vehicles in the complex parking lot.

One of the women, aged 61, was upset about the way the other woman, aged 71, was placing the snow she was removing.

Police said the 61-year-old threw snow with her shovel at the other female, resulting in a physical altercation. The victim received a cut to her cheek and bruising to her wrists. She did not require medical attention.

The 61-year-old was charged with assault and is to appear in Guelph court on March 12.
