West Grey man faces 10 charges after robbery at Mount Forest residence

OPP: Suspect, known to victim, was carrying stun gun, baseball bat, drugs, counterfeit money

MOUNT FOREST – A West Grey man faces assault, weapon, drug and theft charges following a robbery here last week.

On March 6 at about 7am, Wellington County OPP responded to a 911 call at a residence on Main Street South in Mount Forest.

Police say a man entered the residence armed with an electronic stun gun and a baseball bat, assaulted the victim and stole some money.

The accused and the victim are known to each other, OPP officials say.

A 44-year-old man from West Grey Township was arrested and charged with:

  • break and enter to commit an indictable offence;
  • possession of prohibited weapon;
  • possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • assault with a weapon;
  • possession of counterfeit money;
  • failing to comply with an undertaking;
  • failing to comply with a recognizance;
  • robbery with violence;
  • theft under $5,000; and
  • possession of schedule 1 drug (codeine).

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
