The municipal election race is heating up in Wellington North,  with longtime resident Jens Dam entering the race in Ward 3, where he will square off against incumbent councillor Mark Goetz and former councillor Ross Chaulk, who was defeated in the last municipal election in the mayor’s race.

In the mayor’s race for the Oct. 27 election, current councillor Andy Lennox is running against incumbent mayor Ray Tout.

In Ward 1 incumbent councillor Dan Yake is being challenged by Shawn McLeod.

The Ward 2 race will see incumbent councillor Sherry Burke go up against former councillor Bob Mason and political newcomer Brett McHugh.

In Ward 4 another former councillor John Matusinec is looking to win a seat on council against Steve McCabe.

At the county level, Ward 3 councillor Gary Williamson and Ward 4 councillor Lynda White remain unchallenged leading up to the Sept. 12 nomination deadline. Incumbent Bruce Schiek is seeking another term as trustee on the Upper Grand District School Board and Blaise Liaki is seeking a trustee seat on the French Catholic District School Board.
