Wellington North man drowned in Lake Huron

SAUGEEN FIRST NATION – A man who drowned in Lake Huron on Sunday has been identified as a resident of Wellington North.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, at Second Avenue South, north of French Bay Road in Saugeen First Nation, on Sept. 13 just after 4pm.

Grey Bruce OPP officials say a witness last observed the male swimmer "out from shore, in distress and struggling in the waves."

The search for the missing man went on for over two days.

On Sept. 15, the Grey Bruce OPP Marine Unit and OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit removed the deceased man from the water.

He was identified the next day as Kevin Costin, 29, of Wellington North.
