Wellington North council

The Wellington North municipal office here is in need of roof repairs, despite the building only being about 10 years old.

Council approved a recommendation from its building-property committee for a $15,336 tender from W. Schwindt & Sons to repair the roof. It was the lowest of two tenders received, and according to councillor Dan Yake is about $6,000 below budget.

Council also approved a proposal by The Wellington North Fire Service to proceed with tendering for a new tanker truck. The fire service indicated it wants to tender the project to get an estimate on costs. The township is expected to purchase a new pumper truck for each of its stations in Arthur and Mount Forest. The purchase of a second truck will not be considered until next year’s budget deliberations.

“They just want to get the process underway so they can get numbers,” Yake said.
