Wellington North awards street construction tenders at special meeting

KENILWORTH - Wellington North has awarded the tender for construction on Fergus Street South in Mount Forest to Moorefield Excavating Ltd.

The company’s bid of $902,635 for parts 1 and 2 and provisional items of the tender was the lowest of two received, states a report from consulting engineering firm BM Ross and Associates.

The tender was awarded at a special meeting of council held via conference call on March 25.

Council also directed staff to fund the $31,000 difference between the Moorefield Excavating tender for Fergus Street South and the higher estimated cost using surplus funds from the following projects: Georgina Street, King Street East Sidewalk, Eastview Drive Sidewalk and Domville Street (watermain).

Council also awarded part 3 of the tender to Moorefield Excavating Ltd. at a cost of $20,787 plus applicable taxes to be funded from the Roads – Roadside Maintenance Material and Supply budget.

Council declined to award part 4 of the tender.

Also at the March 25 meeting, council awarded sections 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the tender for a construction project on Georgina Street to Moorefield Excavating Ltd. at a cost of $1,090,283 plus applicable taxes.

Council declined to award section 3 of the tender.
