KENILWORTH – The Township of Wellington North is currently accepting applications for the 2026 intake of its Community Grants and Donations Program.
The program provides funding for local groups to plan, develop and implement community development-based activities, programs and events.
The initiatives should meet local needs, involve and empower local people and have an aim of sustainability.
“Not-for-profit organizations and community groups play a vital role in delivering local events, special activities and programs that strengthen our community,” stated Mayor Andy Lennox in a press release.
“Through this fund, the Township of Wellington North is proud to support these initiatives, which are key to making our community vibrant and welcoming.”
Funding is made available to eligible organizations through a highly competitive process, and the program has been oversubscribed in recent years.
Applications will be reviewed and graded using a scoring matrix that assesses the overall impact on Wellington North residents.
Applicants are encouraged to reach out to staff to ensure their application is completed accurately, and that all relevant information is included for council to review.
The total amount available each year is approved by council as part of the annual budget process.
In 2025, $40,000 was approved for the Community Grants and Donations Program.
The program consists of two streams: cash donations and use of space. The cash donation stream allows eligible organizations to apply for cash (up to $1,000) to assist with the implementation of events or programs within the township.
The use of space stream allows eligible organizations to apply for a fee waiver for use of space in a township-owned facility (up to $1,000).
Applications for the 2026 intake must be submitted by Sept. 30.
Township staff will review the applications and prepare a report for council approval.
All applicants will be notified of council’s decision by January 2026.
