Since the 1990s, Welcome Wagon representatives across the country have collected gifts for the first new mother and baby of each New Year.
In Centre Wellington, they work with the staff at Groves hospital.
With one Welcome Wagon representative on medical leave, Helen Marucci and Virginia Burns regret they’ll be unable to visit every business in Centre Wellington.
However, two Welcome Wagon sponsors are helping out: Janet Scott at The Cellar Pub and Grill in Elora and Jennifer Law at Big Monkey Little Monkey in Fergus – both receiving gifts for the first mom.
Businesses are encouraged to drop off their gifts any time between now and Dec. 23.
Those unable to deliver the gifts can call Marucci at 519- 843-5570 and she or Burns will drop by.
