The first phase of water meter installation for the Town of Minto began with the installation of the first meter in Minto at Mayor George Bridge’s home on Aug. 29.
Palmerston and Minto Pines residents have started to have their meters installed by Neptune, as a part of the 2012 water financial plan. Information booklets have been mailed to residents so appointments may be booked to have the meter installed.
Municipal officials state the first phase of the metering program is expected be completed by the end of November, with the second phase beginning in the spring of 2014, with the metering of all users in Harriston and Clifford.
The third and final phase will be the actual billing of those using the new meters, and should begin the end of 2014, or early 2015.
The Town of Minto has contracted Neptune Technology Group to install water meters. The installation procedure requires approximately one hour to complete, during which time, the water will be shut off for a brief period.
There is no charge for the water meter or the installation of the meter.
