Water lines freezing in Minto

The Town of Minto water department is urging customers in the older sections of the three urban areas: Clifford, Harriston and Palmerston, to run one cold water tap at a fast drip up to a small stream until further notice. This will help prevent service lines from freezing.

The town advised in a Feb. 26 press release that a number of service lines have frozen, due to the extended cold weather.

“Water service lines have continued to freeze as frost penetrates the ground,” town officials state.

The water department advises customers who feel their water pressure is dropping to open the tap further until flow increases. Dropping pressure can be a sign that the line is beginning to freeze.
