Warning buoys removed from GRCA dams
Warning buoys and booms upstream of GRCA dams will be removed starting Oct. 19 to prepare for winter.
They will be put back in place in May after the spring runoff. The local removal schedule is:
- Oct. 21, Drimmie Dam (Elora), Bissell Dam (Elora), Everton Dam, and Rockwood Dam;
- Oct. 27, Conestogo Dam and Woolwich Dam;
- Oct. 28, Shand Dam; and
- Oct. 29, Guelph Dam.
The schedule is subject to change depending on weather.
The buoys and booms are installed each May to provide warning to boaters about the danger of approaching these dams. Boaters should exercise extra caution around the dams after the buoys and booms are removed.
