Volunteers across north Wellington support community causes

Volunteers persevere – Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year, volunteers across the north Wellington region found ways to aid community causes. Just a few examples of local volunteers in action include, from left: Officials gathered in Minto for on July 27 for a funding announcement in front of a pergola built by the Harriston Kinsmen Club.

Leona and Matt Ottens raised nearly $4,000 for Canadian Cancer Society’s Wheels of Hope foundation through the first annual Shine Your Light Sunflower Tour, held on their Mapleton farm in August.

The Mount Forest Downtown Gold Bikes for Simon Campaign wrapped up at the end of September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, after raising more than $17,500. The funds were split between Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and the family of six-year-old Simon Edgar-Dickert, a local youth battling brain cancer.
