According to Wellington County roads division engineering services construction manager Mark Eby, the work on the sidewalk repairs is progressing well on the downtown bridge at the intersection of Metcalfe and Mill Streets here.

In a Wednesday email to the Wellington Advertiser, Eby stated “the concrete for the repairs to the east sidewalk was poured today (Wednesday) and will take four days to cure properly.  Due to this timeline, the east sidewalk will not be open to pedestrian traffic until after the weekend.”

He added the full road closure is still planned for Monday to Wednesday next week.

He said “the weather forecast at this time indicates that Mother Nature is going to cooperate and the work will be able to proceed as planned.  Once it is completed the bridge will be completely reopened to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the remainder of the summer.”
