Two people airlifted to hospital after crashes

Two people were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after two separate vehicle collisions at opposite ends of Wellington County last Friday.

MINTO – On Feb. 26 at about 8:50am emergency crews responded to a serious collision involving a transport truck that sideswiped a Subaru at the intersection of Wellington Road 87 and School Road 7,  west of Harriston.

Police say a 38-year-old woman from Hanover, the lone occupant of the car, was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the transport truck and was not injured.

The cause of the collision was being investigated by Wellington County OPP.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Feb. 26 at about 2pm, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 just north of the Fourth Line here.

Three people were taken to a local hospital, with one later taken to a Hamilton hospital by air ambulance.

On March 1, four days after the crash, Dave Townsend, 66, of Centre Wellington, was charged with careless driving in connection with the crash.
